Target Compounds

Performance Tips

• Liquor collected from in-line filtration (positive pressure);
• Sample preservation (dilution) with nitric acid preservative.
  • Weigh sample bottle including label and cap to the nearest 0.01 g and record weight;
  • Add about 75 mL DI water to bottle;
  • Add 1 mL concentrated Ultrex HNO3 to bottle;
  • Reweigh bottle (including cap) to the nearest 0.01 g and record weight;
  • Label as "Cation DF with HNO3"
  • Color coding bottles (preservatives) can help with later identification.

Shipping

• The HNO3 preservation solution should be shipped as a hazardous material. Please call for IATA codes if you need them.
• Samples may be shipped at ambient temperatures.
• Be sure to include a chain of custody for each shipping container.

Applications

• Useful for calcium and magnesium determinations in lime and limestone scrubbing liquors;
• The analysis faster than the other available methods if many samples are being analyzed;
• Solids can be anlayzed to determine reagent utilization.
