Volatile organic emissions test programs performed on ink and coating processes require further analyses to determine fugitive and captured emissions. The following analytical methods are used to support capture and destruction efficiency studies:
Method 24
This method determines the volatile matter content, water content,
density,
volume solids of paint varnish or lacquers, or other related coatings.
Method 24A
Utilized to determine the VOC content and density of solvent-borne
(solvent reducible) publication rotogravure inks and related publication
rotogravure coatings.
NOTE: Method 24 can also be modified to analyize other materials such as adhesives and food additives.
Method 204 a, f
Clean Air Engineering's organic laboratory regularly performs
EPA Method 204a analyses on liquid coating and ink samples. Results
of this analysis include: 1) A direct comparison of FID Response
Factor from the coating with propane calibration gas; 2) Determination
of VOC Content of the liquid sample.
